What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a profession which specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to mechanical dysfunction of the joints and muscles, and their effects on the nervous system.

Chiropractors specialise in spinal manipulation. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends manual therapies such as spinal manipulation (as performed by chiropractors) for the treatment of persistent low back pain (NICE, 2009).

Our chiropractors use a variety of techniques, depending on your condition. These aim to increase joint mobility, nerve and muscle function.

Our treatments are tailored to you. We use a modern, evidence based approach to create personal treatment plans that focus on you as an individual. We aim to help you make informed decisions about your health and provide information about how to stay at your best.

Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession, this means that you do not need to be referred by your GP. In addition one does not need to be a Vitality Gym member to visit us.

By law, all chiropractors must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) in order to practise within the UK and to use the title Chiropractor.

You can check the register on the GCC's website. Rhiannon's registration number is 03594.

What We Treat

Chiropractors are best known for treating back pain. A survey by the British Chiropractic Association (2009) found that 72% of people in the UK have suffered from back pain at some point. Our Chiropractors focus on the cause of your back pain, rather than just the symptoms.

Patients consult us regarding a wide range of conditions. These include:

  • Back Pain (Including disc injuries)
  • Neck Pain
  • Mid/Upper back and rib pain
  • Arthritic Pain
  • Upper limb pain (Shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand)
  • Lower limb pain (Hip, knee, ankle and foot)
  • Work related aches and pain
  • Sports related pain
  • Muscle sprain/strain

If following your initial consultation it is deemed that chiropractic care is not the best option for you, your Chiropractor will then refer you to your GP or relevant specialist.

If you are unsure if chiropractic can help you, contact us. We run free 15 minute consultations as an opportunity to talk to our Chiropractors about any queries you may have. These can be done in person or over the telephone.

Making an appointment is easy; you can call us on 02921 99 02 55, book online, or contact us.
